The simplified approach to thermoacoustic prime movers described at earlier ASA meetings is extended to the case of heat pumps. The mathematical model is described and a weakly nonlinear theory is developed. The impact of the gas pressure, stack geometry, resonator shape, and other design parameters is explored.
