Abstract:

Compressional and shear waves, trace matched on a submerged cylindrical shell by plane sound incidence near beam aspect, can couple to each other, as well as to subsonic flexural waves, at ring stiffeners and endcaps. This paper addresses whether the power in each elastic wave type (defined as energy per unit shell length multiplied by the wave axial group speed) is partitioned equally with the other two. Shell surface velocities of a ringed shell, calculated for midfrequency range 2
