        The Institute for Music Research at the University of Texas at San
Antonio is hosting the Fifth International Technological Directions in
Music Learning Conference in San Antonio, TX, January 29 - 31, 1998. The
purpose of the conference is to share information concerning current
applications of technology in music learning. The conference should be of
interest to music educators involved in K-12, private studio, or college
teaching, music psychologists, music theorists, composers, musicologists;
as well as students preparing for any of these professions. The final
day of the conference will feature a closing session in which all
participants will collaborate in an effort to design strategies for
integrating technology in music learning. This session will build upon
ideas offered in last year's "think-tank" session for the purpose of
explicating both short-term and long-term goals for integrating technology
into the music curriculum as a means of facilitating instructor
capabilities and to improve the educational experience for students.
