Loudspeakers for dogs

I need to play some stimuli (real world sounds) to dogs in an
experiment on auditory memory and perception. Due to space
limitation I have to use small loudspeakers. I think that car
loudspeakers with about 15 cm distance (diagonally) between
mounting screws would fit best into the place.

What I would like to hear from you are any suggestions on speakers
of this size that can reproduce sounds faithfully (no distortion, no
added harmonics and good frequency response particularly in high
frequencies) Should I choose two or three-way speakers?

And how to built in the speakers into the apparatus properly: do I
need to put them in an enclosure? Or just leave them open-back?

Thanks for any suggestons,
