Hypothesis: One might suggest that good (male) musicians have a better
chance of fathering more offspring than most members of the species. There
is certainly evidence for this in our own era. "Pan" the Greek god of
fertility played a pipe. 45,000 year old Neanderthal stone flutes suggest
that music has been around for a while - long enough to have even a slight
evolutionary impact anyway... Just a thought.
