- Overview:

The RWC (Real World Computing) Music Database is a copyright-cleared
music database that is available to researchers as a common database for
research purposes.  All of the necessary copyrights and neighboring
rights connected with this database belong to the National Institute of
Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) of Japan, allowing an
unprecedented sharing of musical data with the research community.  The
database is distributed by the RWC Music Database Administrator of AIST
to researchers at a cost equal to only duplication, shipping, and
handling charges (i.e., it is virtually free).  We hope that the RWC
Music Database will contribute to further advancements in the field of
music information processing.

- Structure:

      1. Popular Music Database (100 songs) &
           Royalty-Free Music Database (15 songs)       [8 Music CDs]

      2. Classical Music Database (50 pieces)           [6 Music CDs]

      3. Jazz Music Database (50 pieces)                [4 Music CDs]

      4. Music Genre Database (100 pieces)              [9 Music CDs]

      5. Musical Instrument Sound Database
           (50 instruments, approximately 29.1 Gbytes)  [12 DVD-ROMs]

- Obtaining and Using the Database:

The RWC Music Database can be used after an Application for Use e-mail
form has been submitted by e-mail and an Application for Use FAX form
(including a signed Pledge and credit card payment form) has been sent
by FAX in accordance with the procedures described at the following URL:
