Re: music listening styles

Toth:

"emotionally" versus if one listens to it "analytically", or anything of
that kind. Any hint (even far fetched) welcome...

Does "background listening" counts to be a listening mode?
For me "listening to music" means sitting in a chair with headphone on
and eyes closed. For my girlfriend "listening to music" means turning on
the CD player while cooking or driving or something like that. These are
clearly different listening modes, am I right?

I would agree. So if anything is known about the impact difference (say: physiological measures, or ratings) of music listened to with attention versus while cooking etc., this would be most welcome information. But even when listening with attention, this can be done with quite different listening styles, I suppose. It would be interesting to know whether the effect of this has been studied.
