The UK's National Biomedical Research Unit in Hearing, NBRUH, is a newly established partnership between the University of Nottingham, the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the MRC's Institute of Hearing Research.  The Unit will employ approximately 25 academic, technical and administrative staff and is fully funded through to March 2012 by the National Institute of Health Research.

We have a number of positions available, at levels ranging from Postdoctoral Research Fellow to Associate Professor, for researchers interested in translating basic auditory research findings into candidate interventions for patient benefit, or for exploring science-driven solutions to current clinical need.  The overall focus of NBRUH is on application of auditory learning to rehabilitation of sensorineural hearing loss in infancy, in later adulthood, and in tinnitus.  However, we actively encourage research that engages with these issues in novel and complementary ways, and from people who do not necessarily have an auditory science background.  Several projects are getting underway, including ambitious attempts to harness the internet and mobile devices to provide testing and training at sites remote from the clinic.

These posts are available immediately and run to 31 March 2012.  Salary will be within the range £27,183 - £55,259 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.  Full and part-time posts are available and secondments to the Unit for an agreed time will also could be considered.
