PhD students in Acoustical Signal Processing (University of Oldenburg, Germany)

The Signal Processing group at the University of Oldenburg seeks
applications for

PhD students in Acoustical Signal Processing

for the duration of 4 years, with a salary according to the E13 resp.
E13/2 TV-L scale.

We are seeking candidates with a Master (or equivalent) degree in
electrical engineering, computer science or physics, who have excellent
grades and a solid scientific background in acoustics, signal
processing, speech processing and/or auditory perception. Familiarity
with scientific tools and programming languages such as MATLAB and C is
highly recommended. Research experience in any of the mentioned fields,
a strong interest in interdisciplinary and application-oriented work, as
well as good English language skills are desirable.

The successful applicant will join a newly established research group,
whose activities center around signal processing for acoustical
applications. More specifically, exciting research topics in the areas
of microphone array processing for speech enhancement and source
localisation, active noise control, acoustic sensor networks and hearing
aid processing are addressed. The Signal Processing group
(http://www.sigproc.uni-oldenburg.de) has close collaborations with the
Medical Physics group, the Centre for Hearing Research and the
Fraunhofer group for Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology.

Apart from conducting research that leads to journal publications and a
PhD thesis, the PhD student is expected to follow some graduate courses
and to be involved on a limited scale into teaching activities and
supervision of Master students.
