cochlear models discussion

Although I am not deeply into cochlear mechanics, I enjoy reading  
about arguments for and against traveling wave etc. It does not make  
sense to ask people to stop this discussion here. If you don't want to  
read it you can delete it with little effort. I am sure we all put up  
with a lot more spam every day.
