job opening at the ICST, Zurich

The Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) with about 2000 students offers a unique choice of studies in Design, Film, Fine Arts, Media Arts, Music, Dance, Theatre and Art Education. The ZHdK originated from the former Zurich Academy of the Arts and the Zurich Academy for Music and Theatre and Dance.


The following position is open at the Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology (ICST, www.icst.net) in the Music Department, to be filled by April 1st, 2011 (or later upon individual agreement):

Research Associate (60% workload)

The position focuses on digital signal processing in the following domains of audio: analysis, synthesis, sound transformation, or spatial audio technologies.

Candidates will have completed studies in the field and are willing to conceive, acquire and lead internally and externally funded research projects. Exchange with the other researchers in the team, participation in further research projects, and interest in the transfer between research and education (such as tutoring of students) within the ICST and ZHdK is required. Experience with new forms of Music and Arts is highly recommended.
