Doctoral Student Consortium ("ThinkTank") at ICAD 2012: Call for Applications, Funding Available
The International Community for Auditory Display (ICAD) conference to be held this year in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on June 18-22 will have a full day Student ThinkTank for Doctoral or Masters students who work in the area of auditory display. The ThinkTank will be held two days before ICAD 2012 begins (June 16) and will be free of charge for all participants.
During the ThinkTank, selected graduate students (ThinkTank Scholars) will briefly present their work (15 minutes) along with questions they have related to their work to the rest of the attendees, which includes Senior Researchers from a variety of related disciplines. Small group discussions will follow after which reports will be made to the entire group. There will also be a session on career mentoring. Finally, ThinkTank Scholars will present their work as a poster at a special poster session during ICAD.
Currently we are soliciting applications for the ThinkTank Scholars. Information on materials for the application can be found at icad2012.icad.org. Pending funding from the National Science Foundation, ThinkTank Scholars based at an institution in the United States who are selected to present will receive airfare (within the USA) to Atlanta, the ICAD registration fee, workshop registration fees, and seven nights shared accommodation at the Regency Suites located next to the Georgia Institute of Technology. Students from institutions outside of the United States who are selected to present are ineligible for funding from NSF and will need to cover their own expenses. We will begin considering applications on April 1 and will notify individuals by April 15.
We would appreciate your help in recruiting students for this exciting opportunity. We are especially interested in having as much diversity among the ThinkTank Scholars as possible, so please forward this information to anyone who you think would be a candidate. Any questions should be directed to the ThinkTank chair, Terri Bonebright (tbone@xxxxxxxxxx).
