Experienced Signal Processing Specialist

 

We offer the opportunity for talented candidates to join our Algorithm & Sound team at Widex Global Research and Development. With focus on audio signal processing and digital communication, this dynamic and cross-functional team develops Widex’ future features and functionality that help millions of hearing impaired people worldwide.

 

Our signal processing solutions are developed in-house, and you will work with our IC designers and embedded software developers to implement algorithms in our custom-made ASICs. Thereby, your work in the Algorithm & Sound team covers all stages of development from research to implementation and testing.

Widex hearing aids are renowned for their quality and their persistent emphasis on delivering clear and natural sound but also for pushing the envelope and bringing new innovations to the market.

 

Your Responsibilities

You will be part of one of our cross-functional development clans following Agile/Scrum work principles, meaning that you can expect a highly collaborative and dynamic work life. Your primary goal will be to develop, test and refine signal processing solutions for our future generations of advanced hearing aids.

 

Your daily tasks include:

Invention, proof-of-concept and prototyping of cutting edge signal processing algorithms and features for integration in hearing aids or in connected devices (such as smartphones)

Specification, fixed-point implementation and testing of algorithms on real-time simulation systems

Breaking down complex tasks and planning your daily work with the team

Understanding user needs and exploring the challenges of hearing-aid users

 

Depending on qualifications, you may also be assigned a specific expertise area, in which you must absorb state-of-the-art knowledge from surrounding fields and convert them into Widex technologies and systems.

Experienced R&D Audiologist

 

Are you an experienced audiologist who is curious about what goes on under the hood in hearing aids? Maybe you have experience conducting research in the field of audiology? With focus on technical audiology, audio signal processing and personalization in hearing-aid fitting this dynamic and cross-functional team develops Widex’ future features and functionality that help millions of hearing impaired people worldwide. The team consists of a healthy mix of specialists within signal processing and hearing loss compensation and audiology. We work in all stages of development from research and prototyping to implementation and testing. Responsibilities

 

You will be part of one of our cross-functional development teams following Agile/Scrum work principles, meaning that you can expect a highly collaborative and dynamic work life. Your primary goal will be to develop new hearing aid features and ensuring the audiological quality and validity. Thereby, you will be the champion of our customers - both audiologists and end users. Furthermore, you will communicate with a variety of stakeholders ensuring our customer focused development and gaining a deep understanding of the market and end user needs. Hence, in this role you will have a high impact on the future generations of our advanced hearing aids.

Key tasks include:

• Inventing, proof-of-concept and exploring audiological concepts in relation to state-of-the-art signal-processing algorithms in hearing-aid applications.

• Exploring challenges of hearing-aid users, thereby understanding user needs and ensure a customer centric development process

• Breaking down complex tasks and planning your daily work with the clan.

• Communication across global departments in order release the full potential of innovative solutions.

• Keeping up with the newest developments in the field of audiology and integrating new technologies into Widex’ solutions.

 

You

You are driven by curiosity in the search for the best solutions for people who are challenged in acoustic communication due to hearing impairment. You have skills within technical or clinical audiology to contribute to the advancement of high quality hearing-aid platforms. You can exemplify successes within your area of expertise, preferably in relation to impact on product development. You work comfortably and efficiently in teams, towards a common goal. You are creative when facing complex problems.

Requirements are:

• M.Sc., Au.D, Ph.D. or equivalent within the field of Audiology

• Potentially you have some years of clinical experience or experience as a researcher

• At least 3 years of professional experience within hearing-aid technology and its application in Audiology

• Preferably experience with experimental design and data analysis

• Fluency in written and spoken English
