The Medical Physics Group at Universität Oldenburg, Germany, seeks a motivated

 

Research scientist

(70% of full time TV-L 13 position, until 31.03.2020)

 

in the field of model-supported speech intelligibility diagnostics and rehabilitation

 

This DFG-funded project aims to establish an internationally compatible and theoretically supported approach to improve speech audiology, prescription, and assessment of hearing devices. This will be achieved by linking speech-based clinical hearing diagnostics in adverse acoustic conditions and developing and evaluating models of speech intelligibility. The research scientist will be involved in empirical measurements as well as in modelling of speech perception for listeners with normal hearing and with hearing loss.

The project is a collaboration between the Medical Physics Group and leading hearing research centers/clinics in different countries to facilitate multilingual comparisons.

Applicants for the position must hold an academic university degree (master or equivalent) in hearing technology & audiology, physics, engineering, or a related discipline. Furthermore, applicants must have a solid background in at least one of the following fields: auditory perception, hearing aid acoustics, modelling of speech perception, speech and audio processing. A strong interest in interdisciplinary application-oriented work, familiarity with scientific tools and programming languages such as MATLAB, good spoken and written English language skills is expected. Furthermore, candidates should have at least some basic German language skills or should acquire them within the first 6 months.
