[AUDITORY] Postdoctoral position available at Baylor University



Job Description:

Seeking Applications for a three-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at Baylor University, focused on both binaural hearing and noise-induced hearing loss.

 

The lab of Dr. Yoon (https://www.baylor.edu/chhs/index.php?id=953869) is pleased to announce the availability of a full-time, three-year postdoctoral fellowship. An anticipated start date is January 3, 2022.

 

The focus of the position is on combined use of cochlear implants and hearing aids across ears (i.e., bimodal hearing) and within ear (electric acoustic stimulation), along with development of signal processing tool for noise-induced hearing loss study. The fellow will contribute to several ongoing studies, which focus broadly on testing underling mechanisms for bimodal and EAS hearing, fitting optimization, development of signal processing, and speech enhancement. Dr. Yoon also conducts research on development of treatment for noise-induced hearing loss. The fellow will also contribute to this study, primarily for developing signal processing tools to improve speech perception of individuals with noise-induced hearing loss. Dr. Yoon’s research is highly interdisciplinary, and this opportunity is appropriate for applicants with broad backgrounds.

 

Qualifications

 Minimum qualifications: 

  • PhD in Hearing Sciences, Neurosciences, Engineering, or other speech-perception and auditory system related disciplines.
  • Good programing skills in such languages as MATLAB, C/C++, or Java are expected.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Previous experience with cochlear implant and hearing aid users/signal processing research will be plus.
