[AUDITORY] Internship position at Qualcomm Technologies, San Diego

Dear List,

The emerging market of over-the-counter hearing aids presents an exciting opportunity for the development of low-cost assistive hearing solutions to help people with mild to moderate hearing loss. We are looking for a graduate engineering/science student to help develop cutting edge speech enhancement technologies for hearables to address this new market. Our focus is on machine learning based approaches to traditional signal processing problems with an emphasis on low latency noise suppression.

This position is for an internship, thus we are primarily interested in candidates nearing the end of their PhD/MS programs. Successful applicants have a high probability of obtaining full-time offers after the internship.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

Required experience

- Deep expertise in ML/DL approaches for speech enhancement (ideally, noise suppression)

- Experience building and training models with commercial software (e.g., PyTorch or Tensorflow)

- Broad knowledge of traditional digital signal processing (filtering, FIR/IIR, sample rate considerations, etc.)

Desired experience

- Experience implementing these algorithms with latency as a top priority (and techniques required to meet these latency requirements)

- Experience implementing these networks in H/W and characterizing ‘real-world’ performance

- Experience with hearing compensation and knowledge of hearing aid fitting algorithms/techniques is highly desirable

If interested, please contact Jacob Bean (jbean@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) with a copy of your resume.
