[AUDITORY] Postdoctoral research position in machine learning (ML) for hearing aid signal processing

Dear List,

The University of Sheffield is seeking a postdoctoral Research Associate in machine learning (ML) for hearing aid signal processing.

You will be joining a large, established, 5-year EPSRC project that is seeking to develop transformative approaches to hearing aid speech processing through the organisation of a series of open challenges (the 'Clarity Challenges'). The project is running across the Universities of Sheffield, Cardiff, Nottingham and Salford, with industrial support from Amazon and the Hearing Industry Research Consortium. It provides excellent opportunities for collaboration both in the UK and internationally. For further details, visit http://claritychallenge.org/.

We welcome applicants with Python software development experience and a PhD in Speech and Hearing Technology, Machine Learning or a related area. Your role will involve authoring open-source tools and baseline systems for use in future Clarity Challenge rounds. You will then be working with the project team and members of the international research community to coordinate these challenges. You will also have the opportunity for conducting novel research in speech intelligibility enhancement and speech intelligibility prediction. The role will place you at the centre of a rapidly growing community of researchers who are using machine learning approaches to improve hearing aid performance.
