Thread-topic: Two open PhD positions on Mixed/ eXtended Reality Communication

On rather short notice, we wish to fill

2 new full-time PhD positions

on the topics

(1) "Quality of Service and Quality of Experience in Holographic Communication in 6G Networks"

and

(2) "Speech Communication and Quality of Experience in Augmented Reality-based Multi-Person Conferencing"

Each position is part of one of two different publicly funded projects that have only recently been accepted, with partners from academia and industry, and both starting in September 2022.

Both positions can be filled for a duration of at least 30 months, with possibility of extension. Application deadline: As soon as possible, ideally no later than 17th July 2022 (may be extended). Positions remain open till filled.

The Audiovisual Technology Group at the Institute of Media Technology is an international, interdisciplinary team working on topics related to auditory, visual and audiovisual technology and perception, AR/VR/MR (XR), multimedia networks, Quality of Experience and HCI. The AVT group is also part of the newly established I3TC (Ilmenau Interactive Immersive Technologies Center, www.tu-ilmenau.de/i3tc). Our research ranges from basic research on multimedia and AR/VR/MR/XR technologies, network engineering and perception to applied research in collaboration with industrial partners.
