ucdavis\!auditory(at)VM1.MCGILL.CA In response to Gregory Kramer's 50-250-ms optimum sonification range: It is interesting to note that this range more-or-less coincides with the one Hirsh calls the "auditory Gestalt range". Below 50 ms the events (yes, I will convert to this nomenclature from "objects") are too heavily influenced by peripheral processes, over 250 ms the events become self-standing (=the syllable range). --Pierre Divenyi
