In answer to Piet Vos' inquiry... The paper by van Egmond and Butler in the latest Music Perception relies on data scanned from the textual notation at the back of Barlow and Morgenstern. In addition, David Huron and the Center for Computer Assisted Research in the Humanities are developing a Themefinder application, which integrates a large database of musical themes with pattern-matching functions from Huron's Humdrum Toolkit. In its present form, unfortunately, the Themefinder is not available for general use. ___________ Paul von Hippel Ph.D. candidate Stanford Department of Music Statistical music theory and music psychology, with educational applications
