Could you please pass this to anyone you think may be interested. Thank you ======== The University Of Limerick Department of Computer Science and Information Systems Interactive Media Group (ULIM) PhD Studentship Positions We have two PhD studentships, available within the Interactive Media Group. Both positions are for three years and are funded by the HEA under a project entitled "Media Technology". The aim of the project is to develop a novel framework for media performance using integrated sensor systems, learning and control. It involves the Interaction Design Centre and the Centre for Computational Musicology and Computer Music in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at Limerick. The Media Group has links with Electronics, Material Sciences and the Irish World Music Centre and is involved MSc programs in Music Technology and Interactive Media. The department of CSIS is currently moving into purpose built accommodation, including research labs, studio and performance spaces. The project addresses technical, and performance issues in interactive performance systems, including control of creative processes through human gesture, e.g. dance. This is focussed on the LiteFoot dance floor with embedded proximity sensors. Details can be found at http://www.ul.ie/~pal/litefoot/ The studentships are available for 3 years and will include fees, a grant of 6,000 pounds per annum and travel costs for conferences and collaboration. The University of Limerick is striving towards equal opportunities.
