I am interested in analogues between visual and auditory processing. We describe sounds rich in high-frequency harmonics "bright". This adjective is apparently universal. Why do we use such a visual concept to describe an auditory feature? Another question is about the lateral inhibitions between neighboring inferior colliculus laminae and facilitation extending to second next laminae. Is the later confirmed by experiments and how does it work in auditory processing? Any information is appreciated. Chen-Gia Tsai gia(at)snafu.de
