Call for Papers for ICA2004 ( We heartily welcome you to participate in the 18th International Congress on Acoustics in Kyoto, Japan from 4 to 9 April 2004. The Congress will be held at the Kyoto International Conference Hall (K.I.C.H.) in Kyoto city, the ancient capital of Japan since late in the 8th century. Main theme of ICA2004: "Acoustical Science and Technology for Quality of Life" The Congress will address all fields of acoustics as follows: Acoustical oceanography, acoustic signal processing, animal bioacoustics, architectural acoustics, engineering acoustics, electro-acoustics, measurements and standards, musical acoustics, noise and vibration control, physical acoustics, psychological and physiological acoustics, speech science and speech communication, ultrasound and underwater acoustics. Program of the Congress: 1) Four plenary lectures attractive to all the participants: Lawrence A. Crum (University of Washington, USA) "Therapeutic ultrasound" Adrianus J.M. Houtsma (USAARL, USA and Technical University Eindhoven, The Netherlands) "Low-bit-rate coding of sound and implications for modern high-quality audio communication" Yang-Hann Kim (KAIST, Korea) "Can we hear the shape of noise source?"
