Dear Robert (and others), when posting to this list, please: 1) write something into the "subject" line, 2) when quoting preceding messages, write where you quote from, in particular when quoting a message from another list, 3) when quoting, do not misread what the quote says. --------------------------------------- On Thursday, April 01, 2004, Robert Withnell wrote: > Comments by Martin Braun: > >He did address the reverse traveling wave issue, and he found there is none. > >He simultaneous measured stapes vibration and found that, for DPs, it > >preceded that of BM vibration. This is an extract from a message to the Cochlea List: http://mimosa1.incubator.uiuc.edu/pipermail/cochlea/2004-March/001669.html > ......... Please!!! I did not write "precedes the generation of the source energy". Instead I wrote "preceded that of BM vibration". The source of DP generation is OHC motility. The first visible effect of this OHC motility appears in stapes motion that is caused by a compressional wave. The second, and later, visible effect of this OHC motility appears in BM displacement, due to BM compliance to vibrations in the organ of Corti. In case of further questions, I again suggest that they are discussed on the Cochlea List. There, the majority of members have either knowledge of or interest in DPOAEs. The same can, most probably, not be assumed for the Auditory List.
