You will join a new=20 laboratory within a well established team that has unrivalled access to=20 imaging facilities at Nottingham University. You will also have access to=20 excellent in-house technical and computer support. This post is part of a new research programme at the IHR where we will=20 combine electro-encephalography (EEG) with functional magnetic resonance=20 imaging (fMRI) and psychophysical methods to investigate the development=20 and neural bases of auditory perception in the human brain. The aim of the= =20 research is to explore (i) the mechanisms by which auditory sensory=20 information is represented, (ii) how the sensory information is interfaced= =20 by cognitive processes and (iii) how the representations change during=20 development. The project is closely related to other IHR research aimed at= =20 increasing the understanding of auditory processing deficits in children=20 and their relation to learning problems. This position will involve managing auditory electrophysiological (EEG) and= =20 psychophysical experiments with both adults and children, including=20 designing new paradigms and data analyses, recruiting and testing=20 listeners, and publishing the findings in scientific journals. There will=20 also be the opportunity for conducting fMRI experiments, taking part in the= =20 setting up of an MR-compatible EEG system, which will eventually enable to= =20 perform simultaneous EEG and fMRI measurements. Training will be provided=20 as necessary. The postholder will work closely with and be supervised by Dr= =20 Katrin Krumbholz. The successful applicant will have a PhD in psychology, physics or=20 engineering, and preferably, but not necessarily, have experience in the=20 area of auditory perception/psychophysics or non-invasive neuroimaging=20 (EEG/fMRI).
