I would not write off CAPD just now. Aside our lab, a few friends (e.g., Sandy Gordon-Salant and Peter Fitzgibbons, Karen Snell and her colleagues, and of course Jim Jerger and his colleagues) have shown that the aging process affects auditory processes beyond the periphery. As to the Aetna analysis, it seems to be on the overly cautious side, almost like the present Administration's analysis of global warming. Maybe we should ask Paula Tallal (whose work became the basis for Fast ForWord) to give us her answer to the insurance industry's views?
