I believe that the notes of "Johnny is a ba-by" are G4 G4 E4 A4 G4 E4, i.e., the same as those of the Swiss "Fang mi doch, du alte Schtock" (Catch me, you old stick). Possibly the children in ancient Greece used the same notes. They belong to a Dorian diatonic tetrachord (A4 G4 F4 E4).
