Dear List, I find it interesting that all the comments so far on critical band, pitch perception, harmonic decomposition, and two-tone suppression have provided information on when and where the phenomena occur but lack any reference as to how and why they occur. Thus Monita doesn't have an answer to her question. She doesn't seem to be as far behind as anyone else.
