Hi listers, Can someone point me to references that investigates speech intelligibility as a function of both talker and listener gender, preferably for natural speech. To date the only reference that I came upon that comes close to this is by Ellis et al. (1996), "Effects of gender on listeners' judgments of speech intelligibility", Perceptual and Motor Skills, 83, 771-775. In this study male and female participants provided magnitude-estimation scaling responses and over-all impressions of the intelligibility of a male and female speaker's comparable versions of audiotaped speech samples. I would ideally like to find a study that assessed speech intelligibility using DRT or MRT. Any info would be greatly appreciated. cheers, Rob -- Robert Arrabito Defence R&D Canada -- Toronto 1133 Sheppard Avenue West P.O.
