Thanks Bob for pointing this out! I know that getting synchrony within a multichannel soundcard is not easy and it's probably impossible with multiple soundcards unless thay have their own synchronizing mechanisms. However, my "piece of hardware" is not a soundcard. Well, being an complex programmable I/O interface it has multiple analog inpput and outputs (as well as TTL I/O), so technically it can be used as a soundcard. And I do play my stimuli with it. But it is not controlled with windows sound mechanisms, and all issues of relative timing between incoming and outgoing signals are solved with accuracy well beyond my needs. I am talking about CED Power 1401 interface.
