- For Distribution - Expressions of Interest ­ Doctoral Research in Music, Sound, and Action at MARCS Auditory Laboratories, Sydney, Australia http://marcs.uws.edu.au The Music, Sound, Action group in MARCS Auditory Laboratories at the University of Western Sydney welcomes expressions of interest from people who wish to enroll in a doctoral research program. MARCS is a vibrant, well-appointed centre for research on auditory perception and cognition with particular focus on speech, music and the related areas of human movement and communication, auditory processes, hearing, gesture, dance and emotion. The Music, Sound and Action group includes faculty members Drs Freya Bailes, David Brennan, Roger Dean and Kate Stevens (see: http://marcs.uws.edu.au/?q=research/music-sound-and-action). Our research themes are: 1) Music Perception and Music Cognition; 2) Improvisation; 3) Rhythm and Timing; 4) Movement and Action; 5) Computational Analysis of Music and Dance.
