Dear list, the institute of physics, faculty of mathematics and natural sciences of the University of Oldenburg, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a Professor for Acoustics (tenured). The Institute of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is seeking to fill the position of a Professor (W2) for Acoustics (tenured) Candidates should have excellent international reputation, prominent publications, and practical experience in Physical and Technical Acoustics with applications in Digital Speech and Audio Processing and Coding, Neurophysics or Biomedicine. Experience with modern methods in Signal Processing for Audio, Speech, Sound and Vibration is desirable. As a faculty member the successful candidate will contribute to the core lecture program of the Institute of Physics (lectures are primarily in German, but lecturing in English only is acceptable during the first two years). A participation in the collaborative research center (Sonderforschungsbereich/Transregio) 31 “Das aktive Gehör”, the national center of excellence for hearing technology (HörTech) and the International Research Training Site (Graduiertenkolleg) “Neurosensory Science and Systems” is highly desirable. The successful candidate is expected to closely cooperate with the existing research groups within the Institute of Physics and the research center “Neurosensory Science and Systems”. This research center is intended to promote interdisciplinary cooperation between physics, engineering, computer science, biology and other related disciplines. The professorship is expected to establish a high-profile research group based on excellent previous academic achievements of the successful applicant in research, teaching and management.
