Dear list, Does any one know of quantitative studies comparing the intelligibility of spoken vs. whispered sentences in Mandarin? There are good studies of tone identification in whispered vs. spoken Mandarin monosyllables, but I'm looking for studies of sentence comprehension, not tone identification of isolated words.
