Hello everyone We have a 6 PhD scholarships currently being advertised for six projects:- Project 1: Management of Children with Auditory Neuropathy Project 2: Objective Measurement of Tinnitus and its Remediation Project 3: Overcoming Barriers to the use of Hearing Aids Project 4: Cortical Evaluation of Cochlear Implant Performance Project 5: Central Auditory Disabilities in Children with Language Impairment Project 6: Improved coding and transduction of pitch, fine spatio-temporal structure and speech in noise for cochlear implant users Closing Date: 30 January 2009 Six full time PhD scholarships are available in the Department of Linguistics, Macquarie University, in conjunction with the HEARing Co-operative Research Centre. The PhD projects are listed below. Applicants should clearly label their project of interest on the front of their application form e.g. Hearing CRC Project #1. Successful candidates must commence by 16 February 2009. Hearing CRC scholarships are available to domestic or international students. International Students should note this is a stipend only scholarship and they would be responsible for the payment of tuition fees and compulsory overseas health cover. Applicants should hold the equivalent of an Australian undergraduate degree with at least Second Class Division 1 honours (such as a Masters degree with a substantial thesis component) in a relevant discipline as indicated in the project description. The scholarship pays a living allowance at the Australian Postgraduate Award rate, currently $20,427 per annum, tax exempt (2009), and the tenure is a maximum 3 years full time, subject to satisfactory progress. Details are at:- http://www.research.mq.edu.au/students/scholarships/pages/HearingCRCScholarships VERY sorry about the short notice. It only occurred to me just now to post on this list (I'm currently on annual leave). These scholarships are particularly suitable for Australian citizens or permanent residents as they are living expenses only scholarships. Research students with Australian citizenship (or with Australian permanent residence status) have their fees covered by the government. Nevertheless, foreign students who are able to cover tuition fees and compulsory health cover are most welcome to apply. It may be possible to extend the commencement date for particularly suitable overseas applicants, but the application date is inflexible. regards Robert Mannell -- ------------------------------------------- Dr. Robert H.
