Office: Phone: (514) 398-6103, Fax: (514) 398-4896 http://webpages.mcgill.ca/staff/Group2/abregm1/web/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- JOB OPPORTUNITY: The Shared Reality Lab at McGill University (http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/sre/) is a highly dynamic group of approximately 20 students, post-docs, and research professionals, involved in a wide variety of research topics spanning immersive multimodal environments, high-fidelity communications, signal processing, medical and musical training technologies, and vision therapy. We are hiring a technical lab manager to coordinate a number of our activities and, depending on the applicant's background, also to contribute as a researcher to relevant projects. The successful applicant will have a strong technical background and some experience with project management and reporting. An enthusiastic, friendly personality and excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are imperative. French proficiency is an asset. Duties will include: Project Management: - Prepare, track, and maintain realistic task lists to ensure that projects meet their deliverables - Create budget and project reporting documentation - Develop and maintain the lab's external and internal web pages - Assist with the preparation of grant proposals Technical: - Maintenance and troubleshooting of computers (primarily Ubuntu and Windows) and other lab equipment - Research and coordinate equipment purchases - Maintain an efficient organization of special-purpose lab equipment Research (dependent on background and skills): - Participate in ongoing research projects - Help design and implement software or hardware prototypes - Help plan and carry out experiments with human participants - Assist in the preparation and editing of academic papers Salary range $35k - $60k based on qualifications.
