The topic of the Spring School is "Musical Protocols and Tools for= Movement Activation and Rehabilitation." Goal * Provide conceptual foundations for music-based rehabilitation * Provide a hands-on trai ning and experience with interactive music tools = for music-based rehabilitation * Provide training in academic writing and in presentations * Learn about technology transfer, and have a site visit to Cochlear (Meche= len) Educational concept The spring school focuses on hands-on training, using a learning concept th= at is based on tutorials and self-learning through guided practical experie= nce. The morning sessions start with tutorials on embodiment, Max/MSP, stat= istics, rehabilitation and issues related to technology transfer. After the= se tutorials, hands-on trainings are scheduled. The afternoon sessions are = devoted to practical training in small groups that work on concrete experim= ents, writing skills and presentations. The evening is devoted to social ac= tivities including a touristic visit, a concert and a free podium activity. Venue The Spring School is hosted by IPEM (Institu te for Psychoacoustics and Ele= ctronic Music). IPEM is a center of excellence ("Methusalem") for Systemati= c Musicology of Ghent University, Belgium. IPEM does pioneering research wo= rk in the field of embodied music cognition and mediation technologies. The= institute consists of an interdisciplinary team of researchers and staff, = lead by Prof. Dr. Marc Leman. EBRAMUS EBRAMUS (Europe BRAin and MUsic) is a consortium of European research cente= rs to study new perspectives for stimulating cognitive and sensory processe= s using music. EBRAMUS offers a unique, interdisciplinary graduate program = to study the behavioral, functional, structural effects of music on rehabil= itation, learning, and facilitation of cognitive processes. Its goal is to = train PhD students in behavioral and neuroscience (EEG, fMRI, etc.) methods= applied to the investigation of the use of music in boosting language proc= essing, learning, memory as well as motor behavior.
