Senior Acoustic Systems Engineer Austin, TX - United States http://cirrus.com/en/company/ The Audio Division of Cirrus Logic is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in the field of Acoustics who will be directly responsible for developing the specifications, evaluation, and optimization of voice and audio processing algorithms which improve intelligibility and sound reproduction for portable consumer devices. This role works hand in hand with the Signal Processing Algorithm Development and Engineering Design Teams. Responsibilities: The candidate will determine and write functional requirements and specifications for audio processing algorithms based on high-level requirements from customers, Marketing or Engineering. In addition, you will: - Be expected to research, specify, analyze and optimize signal processing algorithms. - Define, design and debug associated hardware platforms for support of engineering prototypes and Marketing demonstration boards. - Perform objective and subjective audio algorithm evaluation and validation, data analysis and competitive benchmarking. - Apply robust acoustic analytical techniques to optimize the signal processing results and determine adequacy to meet regulatory and customer specific requirements. - Work with the company's patent attorney to patent developed technologies. - Participate in reviews of designs, implementations, or documentation prepared by others or self Required Skills: - MSEE degree with 6+ years of experience in acoustics development for consumer electronic devices. - Strong hands-On experience conducting audio and acoustic measurement and analysis. - Strong knowledge in both acoustic and signal processing theory. - Prior experience in adaptive filter design. - Prior experience in psychoacoustics, voice intelligibility, noise suppression, echo and noise cancellation, voice recognition, or speaker modeling and failure detection. - Experience with subjective acoustic performance and objective acoustic/audio analysis. - Can write MATLAB simulation code for the investigation of algorithms. - Interpret test results and suggest performance improvement recommendations. - Must be a self-starter and highly motivated. - Excellent communication and presentation skills required, both written & verbal. Skills recognized as a plus: - Experience in analog and digital PCB design, schematic entry and circuit debug. - Understand the technical details of various transducers and the associated applications. - Direct customer engagement in product definition and evaluation. - Experience in MATLAB GUI development. - Can perform algorithm development, simulation and optimization. - Experience in acoustic qualification for PC, notebook, and tablet. - Knowledge of ADC/DAC converter technology and low power mixed signal circuitry.
