--047d7bdc8d0eb6dada04cb102b35 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Dear members of the auditory list, Robert Zatorre and I would like to thank you all for your extremely helpful feedback regarding sound file formats for Frontiers in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience. The peer review and publication processes are undergoing rapid, significant change. At Frontiers we're aiming to make the most of the interactive peer review and publishing platform we've developed and refined over the last five years. To that end, authors in Frontiers can already share their experimental stimuli during review - you can submit them along with your manuscript in a zip file - and alongside the published Open Access article. Currently, auditory stimuli (and movies) published alongside a paper appear in a side menu in the html version (as in Joseph LeDoux's entertaining essay here: http://www.frontiersin.org/human_neuroscience/10.3389/fnhum.2011.00049/full). We'll do our best to enable direct uploading of wav and mp3 files at submission, and include embedded playable versions in the body of methods or results sections within articles, in the not-too-distant future. The sharing of sounds and stimuli in Frontiers won't be restricted to Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience. We'll work on this with all of you in mind, so a submission to Frontiers in Perception Science, or to any other specialty section of Frontiers in Neuroscience or Frontiers in Psychology, will also allow uploading, sharing, and publication of auditory stimuli. These are exciting times in scientific communication. Thanks, all, for your good suggestions.
