The successful applicant will investigate effects of cochlear damages, ageing, and cognitive alterations on the perception and localization of sound signals. The study is part of the “TROUVE” (“FIND”) project, which is funded by the French National Research Agency (Agence Nationale pour la Recherche). The long-term goal of project “TROUVE” is to develop solutions that can help individuals with moderate cognitive deficits to locate useful everyday-life objects, such as keys, or a wallet. The position of the object is indicated by a virtual sound source. Depending on the results of the initial psychoacoustical investigation, the post-doctoral researcher will be given the opportunity to investigate various sound-spatialisation techniques (including air and bone conduction, as well as transaural), and to submit the work for publication in a scientific journal. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in cognitive science, neuroscience, acoustics, or audio signal processing. Some knowledge of psychoacoustics is required. Some knowledge of acoustics and signal processing will be a plus.
