The job description is available at: http://www.vacanci= es.aau.dk/show-vacancy/?vacancy=3D662670 - the text is copied below for you= r convenience :-) If you know of good students within this area, please inform them about the= position. Regards, S=F8ren The Signal Information Processing group at the Department of Electronic Sys= tems, Aalborg University, Denmark, is seeking to fill the position of an Ex= perienced Researcher (Postdoctoral Research Associate) in the Marie Curie I= nitial Training Network DREAMS (Dereverberation and Reverberation of Audio,= Music and Speech, www.dreams-itn.eu). This full-time position is available from 01.10.2014 or soon thereafter for= 16 months, with an attractive salary according to the Marie Curie Initial = Training Network conditions. The main part of the research work will be car= ried out at Aalborg University, Denmark (supervisors: Prof. S=F8ren Holdt Jensen, Assoc. Prof. Jan =D8sterg= aard) and will include a 4-month research secondment at Carl von Ossietzky Universitat Oldenburg, Ge= rmany (supervisors: Prof. Simon Doclo, Prof. Timo Gerkmann). The DREAMS Initial Training Network started in 2013 and investigates the pr= oblem of modeling, controlling, removing and synthesizing acoustic reverberation with the aim = of enhancing the quality and intelligibility of audio, music and speech signals. The ITN hosts 12 Ea= rly Stage Researchers and 4 Experienced Researchers, each performing an individual research proje= ct around one of four themes that reflect the most challenging open problems in the area of (de)r= everberation. The research training is organized and supervised by an international consortiu= m of 12 leading institutions from academia and industry. The title of the envisaged research project is Interaction of (de)reverbera= tion with other acoustic artefacts/algorithms. In the area of acoustic signal enhancement, = artefacts such as reverberation, echo, feedback, and noise are usually dealt with as isolated= problems. However, in a realistic acoustic environment, multiple artefacts appear concurrently. A m= ere concatenation of existing acoustic signal enhancement algorithms would be a simplistic and i= nefficient way of approaching more complex enhancement problems, since the interaction betwee= n different algorithms is non-negligible. The objective of this research is to develop = a general signal model for acoustic signal enhancement under a combination of different acoustic artef= acts and compression artefacts, and to propose a number of strategies for exploiting interaction= s between different algorithms. It will be crucial to investigate how the different artefacts d= epend on the characteristics of the enclosure and the sound signals of interests, and how the different = artefacts influence each other. We are seeking for candidates with a PhD degree (or at least 4 years of equ= ivalent research experience) in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related di= scipline, who have an excellent research and publication record in the field of speech and audio = processing, signal and information processing. Preference will be given to applicants who have a s= trong interest in interdisciplinary and application-oriented work and familiarity with subjec= tive listening experiments. Moreover, good English language skills are required. Apart from independent= ly conducting cuttingedge research leading to journal publications, the experienced researcher is exp= ected to cooperate with the early stage researchers in the DREAMS ITN. Please note that candid= ates are only eligible if they obtained their academic university degree (Master) less than 5 year= s prior to their recruitment and have lived/worked in Denmark for less than 1 year in the 3 = years immediately prior to their recruitment. You may obtain further professional information from = Assoc. Professor Jan =D8stergaard, phone +45 9940 8693, email: jo@xxxxxxxx To apply for this position use the online portal at: http://www.vacancies.a= au.dk (vacancy # P21420) It is required that you submit a letter of motivation describing the reason= s for applying, a CV, a list of publications, a copy of the university diplomas and transcripts, contact= information of 2-3 possible references, and a preliminary research plan. The application deadl= ine is 01.09.2014. The DREAMS ITN adheres to The European Charter for Researchers and The Code= of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. ? --_000_140195203257439191bangolufsendk_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html> <head> <meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html; charset=3DWindows-1= 252"> <style type=3D"text/css" style=3D"display:none"><!-- p { margin-top: 0px; m= argin-bottom: 0px; }--></style> </head> <body dir=3D"ltr"> <div id=3D"OWAFontStyleDivID" style=3D"font-size:12pt;color:#000000;backgro= und-color:#FFFFFF;font-family:Calibri,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> <p class=3D"p1">Dear group</p> <p class=3D"p2"><br> </p> <p class=3D"p1">We=92re opening a Marie Curie postdoc position within the a= rea of acoustic signal enhancement.
