Of interest to some of you: Karen Collins, who has published a number of books on video game sound, is putting together a new book and documentary film about the history of game sound, from the Victorian arcades through to today. One of the goals of the project is to collect and document material such as code, fanzine reviews, music scores, and so on from the people she interviews, which she intends to digitize with the help of a librarian/archivist, and make available to other researchers. Shešll also be gathering historical documents relating to games more generally (not just sound/music) and making these available as well. She asked me to help spread the word as the project currently requires a little support, and so the film team has launched a kickstarter:http://bit.ly/KickBeep -- Mark Grimshaw The Obel Professor of Music MaSK: http://www.mask.aau.dk/ WEB: http://personprofil.aau.dk/profil/126217 TEL: (+45) 99 40 91 00 FAX: (+45) 98 15 45 94 POST: Aalborg Universitet Musik Rensburggade 14 9000 Aalborg
