We would welcome applicants that are studying the auditory system. TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS IN NEUROSCIENCE University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Physiology and Biophysics As part of an institutional initiative to expand neuroscience research on campus, we are seeking to fill two tenure-eligible faculty positions. One appointee will be in systems neuroscience. For this position, we especially encourage applicants who use computational approaches and/or innovative experimental techniques in electrophysiology, photonics, and bioengineering. The second appointee should employ cellular and molecular approaches to study the function of excitable cells or their intercellular communication. Both appointees should have research interests that complement and extend existing research in the Department (www.medschool.ucdenver.edu/physiology). We expect appointees to conduct vigorous independent research and participate in professional and graduate teaching and training. Rank is open and will depend on qualifications. This faculty search by the Department of Physiology and Biophysics is being done in conjunction with two additional faculty searches in neuroscience by the Departments of Cell and Developmental Biology and Pharmacology. This joint effort, which is being coordinated by the Center for NeuroScience (www.medschool.ucdenver.edu/CNS), means that the new Physiology appointees will be part of a rapidly growing neuroscience community. Interactions between faculty in different Departments on campus, including basic science and translational collaborations, occur naturally and are facilitated by various interdepartmental programs and centers. These include the Neuroscience Program (www.medschool.ucdenver.edu/neuroscience), with ~70 affiliated faculty and ~30 graduate students. The Center for NeuroScience and an NINDS P30 grant sponsor state-of-the-art core facilities that include light and electron microscopy, rodent and zebrafish gene manipulation, and a machine shop. Behavior and optogenetics core facilities are also available. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and appropriate and sufficient post-doctoral research experience to establish an independent research program and obtain funding.
