Work in the Cerebral Systems Lab investigates multisensory = and crossmodal plasticity in auditory cortex of hearing animals as well as = animals with hearing loss (deafness) and hearing restoration (via cochlear = prosthetics). We use an integrative approach combining behavioral psychoph= ysics, single- and multiunit electrophysiological recording, reversible dea= ctivation techniques, and functional MRI. All work is conducted in feline = and monkey models of human hearing and hearing loss. Applicants with an in= terest in auditory neuroscience, cortical plasticity, and multisensory proc= essing are highly encouraged to apply. For more information about the lab,= see: www.cerebralsystems.ca<http://www.cerebralsystems.ca>. Before the proposed start date, the candidate(s) must have completed a PhD = in Neuroscience, Physiology, Psychology, Computer Science, or related disci= pline, with a record of research success. Applicants are expected to have = a strong background in Systems/Cognitive Neuroscience or Hearing Science an= d training in behavioral psychophysics, electrophysiological recording, and= /or functional MRI. Quantitative and programming skills in MATLAB or equiv= alent are expected. The laboratory is an energetic, innovative, highly pro= ductive, and highly collaborative research environment with a strong commit= ment to the training and career development of postdoctoral fellows. The s= uccessful candidate(s) must have the ability to work creatively and indepen= dently. Our facilities include 5 sound booths for electrophysiological and = psychophysical investigations, a dedicated surgical suite, histology and mi= croscopy labs, and access to the research-dedicated ultra-high field (7T, 9= .4T) magnets at the Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping at the Roba= rts Research Institute. Annual salary will be based on the level of experience. Start date is flex= ible, but candidates will be expected to take up the position in 2017. Hig= hly qualified candidates will be eligible to apply for federal and local po= stdoctoral fellowships. Initial appointments will be for a period of 2 yea= rs, with a possibility for renewal up to 5 years. Further inquiries and ap= plications including a CV, names of three references, and a statement of re= search interest should be sent by email to steve.lomber@xxxxxxxx UWO is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will rece= ive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, n= ational origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or status as= a qualified individual with a disability. As we enjoy a Trump-free lifest= yle, we welcome applicants from outside Canada and refugees fleeing the US.
