--000000000000a1017705beab845c Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Dear List, I am helping a friend to revisit some questions to do with the McGurk effect. In a nutshell, we are intrigued by the fact that the effect is often quite strong even if the identity of the voice is not well matched to the identity of the face, and we want to test whether a little bit of training and priming might reduce the strength of the McGurk effect in these situations. We have managed to adapt some of the wonderful Oldenburg OLAVS McGurk stimuli for an online experiment to try this. If you are intrigued/generally happy to help, have 20-25 minutes to spare, and have a pair of headphones and a web browser to hand with a reasonably good internet connection (ideally Chrome or Safari, we had reports of possible issues with some versions of Firefox) then please, please, pretty please, point your browsers to the URL https://openss.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dguUhGozBc5qCrA when you are ready to have a go. The gods of psychoacoustics will be eternally grateful to you, as will I, and I would of course thank each and every one of you personally and shower you with gifts if only the anonymised data allowed me to recognize your individual contributions ;-) Many thanks in advance!!!
