(Electronic Auditory Research Se= minars), a monthly auditory seminar series with the focus on central audito= ry processing and circuits. Please pre-register (for free) and tune in via = Crowdcast (enter your email to receive the link for the talk): https://www.= crowdcast.io/e/ears/11 (Note: for optimal performance, we recommend using Google Chrome as your br= owser). Speakers: Dr. Laurel Carney (University of Rochester): =93Neural Representations of S= timulus Envelopes: What=92s Inside?=94 Most studies of envelope processing have focused on either = the wideband stimulus envelope, or on the envelopes of a linear filterbank = representing the auditory periphery. This talk will introduce the transform= ation of stimulus envelope that occur from the auditory periphery through t= he auditory midbrain. Nonlinear transduction of sensory receptor cells in t= he cochlear, together with nonlinear cochlear amplification, result in sign= ificant distortion (or enhancement) of stimulus features related to the env= elopes of complex sounds. Consideration of the neural representation of sti= mulus envelope features provides a different insight for considerations of = psychophysical sensitivity to this aspect of complex sounds. Dr. Aravind Parthasarathy (University of Pittsburgh): =93A cross-species ap= proach for studying markers and mechanisms of speech intelligibility=94 Optimal speech-in-noise intelligibility results from intera= ctions between bottom-up neural coding of sensory information and top-down = influences of effortful listening. This talk will discuss the neural encodi= ng of various temporal elements in speech and their effects on speech perce= ption by using a cross-species approach with auditory evoked potentials as = the translational bridge. Additional upcoming E.A.R.S. seminars: November 30, at 1:00 pm ET December 14, at 1:00 pm ET With kind wishes, Maria Geffen Yale Cohen Steve Eliades Stephen David Alexandria Lesicko Nathan Vogler Jean-Hugues Lestang Huaizhen Cai --_000_MN2PR04MB6127B6496118CF86DF1C0E40C8AF9MN2PR04MB6127namp_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

<meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html; charset=3DWindows-1= 252">
<body dir=3D"ltr"> <div style=3D"font-family: Calibri, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size= : 12pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> <p style=3D"margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:medium;font-family:"Time= s New Roman", serif;caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"> <span style=3D"font-size:11pt;font-family:inherit, serif;color:black;border= :1pt none windowtext;padding:0in">Dear fellow neuroscientists,<span = style=3D"font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;color:rgb(32, 31, 3= 0)">
<p style=3D"margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:medium;font-family:"Time= s New Roman", serif;caret-color:rgb(32, 31, 30)"> <span style=3D"font-size:11pt;font-family:inherit, serif;color:black;= border:1pt none windowtext;padding:0in"> <span style=3D"= font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;color:rgb(32, 31, 30)">=
<p style=3D"margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;font-size:medium;font-family:"Time= s New Roman", serif;caret-color:rgb(32, 31, 30)"> <span style=3D"font-size:11pt;font-family:inherit, serif;color:black;= border:1pt none windowtext;padding:0in">We would like to invite you to join= us on Tuesday, October 12 at 1:00 pm EDT (UTC-4) for the = next edition of E.A.R.S.
