Re: [AUDITORY] Dry EEG recommendations

Hi Katie,
Are the sounds ambient or delivered over earphones? I think there are more options if external sound is to be occluded, but ambient sound should be possible too for some devices.

If full scalp coverage is needed I have used CGX's Quick-32r with subjects seated in a lab or office setting and listening to music over earphones.
It could feel heavy after extended listening (30 mins to ~1 hour) but TRFs are recoverable. This is the device I have used the most for dry EEG and feels reliable.
I haven't used Wearable Sensing but their DSI-24 looks interesting too.

If a more discrete device is needed for public wearing then around-ear or in-ear options could also be considered.
These have been used in public settings for ASSR and ERPs (see work by Preben Kidmose and Martin Bleichner).
Depending on how many subjects you are targeting the in-ear devices could either be custom-fitted or generic.
I'm not sure if a commercial option is currently available for custom-fitted devices, I think various ear-EEG labs have just been making them in house.
There are some open (cEEGrid's gel version) and commercial options (NextSense, IDUN, Emotiv) but I haven't compared them -- other people on this list might be able to chime in!

Thank you,
Abhinav

Hello all,

I’m working to find the right equipment to record neural responses and state changes across time while listening to sounds in an uncontrolled public setting. If you have experience with or recommendations for dry EEG devices I’d appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks!
Katie
