[AUDITORY] Postdoctoral Research Scholar – Auditory Neuroscience / Cochlear Implants



The Auditory Evoked Potential (AEP) Laboratory in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join our research team under the mentorship of Dr. Shuman He.

The position focuses on auditory neural encoding and processing in pediatric and adult participants, including cochlear implant users. Research combines electrophysiology, neuroimaging, computational modeling, psychophysics, and speech perception methods to study peripheral and central auditory function and its interaction with cognition.

The postdoctoral scholar will contribute to experimental design, data collection, analysis, software development, manuscript preparation, and grant writing, with opportunities for independent project development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, psychology, hearing science, computer science, or related field
  • Strong skills in data analysis and statistics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong motivation for an independent research career

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cochlear implants or auditory electrophysiology
  • Programming skills (MATLAB, Python, or similar)
  • Familiarity with human subjects research involving clinical populations.
