Subject: [AUDITORY] Call for participants: online listening test on sonification of judo breakfalls (~15 min, headphones) From: Irini Liapikou <iriniliapikou@xxxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 19 Oct 2026 09:14:31 +0200--0000000000005f5c66065e2c4437 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Dear list, I am looking for participants for a short online listening experiment on real-time sonification for motor learning. The context is the judo backward breakfall (ushiro ukemi), a movement taught to beginners and increasingly used in fall-prevention programmes for older adults. A common error is mistiming the arm slap relative to back contact. The question is how well different sonification designs let listeners detect and identify such errors from sound alone. What participation involves: - Five sound designs, presented in counterbalanced order - For each design, a short familiarisation and training block with an animated figure as reference, then a test block by sound only, where you classify each fall as correct or as one of three error types - Brief ratings and a final ranking of the designs Practical details: - About 15 minutes; headphones required (a short headphone check is included) - Runs in the browser on a computer or phone; English or Japanese - Anonymous; no personal identifiers are collected (GDPR information is on the first page) - No judo or musical experience needed. Participants with any background are welcome, including experienced listeners Link: https://liapikou.github.io/ukemi_study_2part/ This is the second study in the project. The first (n > 40) collected preference ratings for three designs. This one measures discrimination and error identification, *analysed with signal detection measures*. I am happy to share the results with the list once data collection is complete. Questions and comments are very welcome, on or off list. Many thanks, Eirini Liapikou eliapi24@xxxxxxxx iriniliapikou@xxxxxxxx --0000000000005f5c66065e2c4437 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr">Dear list,<br><br>I am looking for participants for a shor= t online listening experiment on real-time sonification for motor learning.= <br><br>The context is the judo backward breakfall (ushiro ukemi), a moveme= nt taught to beginners and increasingly used in fall-prevention programmes = for older adults.
