digital output (SP/DIF) under DOS

Dear List,

We would very much appreciate any hint how to produce digital output
(SP/DIF) on a sound card under DOS. We use Soundblaster Gold AWE64,
which has a digital outlet, which works only under Win95. Does any list
member use a different sound card that produces digital output under
DOS? Or is there some trick (soft- or hardware) that could make a AWE 64
Gold produce digital output under DOS?
