Is a piano heard on the radio in a sense a "synthesized piano"? In any
case, it is not the same as das ding itself. In the car this evening, a
piano was playing a solo in a jazz piece (straight-ahead, post-bop
style) and I told my 4-year daughter, "That is a piano, sweetheart."
She replied, "I know that! It sounds like a piano so it is a piano."
